Ahoy there, Janelle!
Welcome aboard planDisney! I'm glad you sailed by with your great question.
A closed-loop cruise is a round-trip sailing that departs and returns to the same port. Not all cruises are closed-loop and the
type of travel documentation required depends on the home port (where the ship departs and returns to) and which ports your cruise will visit.
I think you are asking about the
Disney Wish 3-Night Bahamian sailing from
Port Canaveral, in which case US citizens
do not require a passport to travel. Instead, you may use a state-issued birth certificate AND a physical government-issued photo ID (digital/mobile state-issued IDs are not acceptable to sail). You will submit these documents during your Online Check-In process before your cruise and you will need to carry these documents with you during your cruise.
While not required, a
passport offers benefits and Disney Cruise Line recommends traveling with a passport while visiting international destinations. If an emergency occurs, a passport will expedite your travel home, for instance. Whatever documentation you travel with on your cruise, be sure to keep your
DisneyBand+ and/or Key to the World card and your government-issued photo ID with you when you are visiting ports of call since you will need them when leaving and returning to the ship. I wouldn't want you to be delayed and miss a single moment of your vacation!
Please let us know if you have other questions, Janelle! We are happy to help other Guests with their Disney planning questions.
Wishing you many magical memories,
Shannon
