Hi, I saw a couple do a gender reveal with balloons at Disneyland with an empty park. I believe is was before the park opened and I would love to know how I would be about to do the same? What’s the cost for something like that?

    Hi Karely,

Welcome to planDisney. I'm so glad you stopped by with a question. First, I'd like to congratulate you on your happy news! The arrival of your precious bundle of joy is a perfect reason to celebrate and I can't think of a more magical place to tell the world than at Disneyland Resort.

Though you may have seen gender reveal announcements shared on social media channels or personal blogs, unfortunately, there is no option to reserve a private paid experience for a gender reveal at this time. Disney Fairy Tale Weddings offer a variety of venues with event price minimums but I'm not sure that will meet your needs for this particular request. You can reach out to Group Operations at (714) 520-7079 to inquire about celebrations at Disneyland Resort hotels like a Quinceañera for instance, but I'd love to suggest some alternative options that you might not have considered.

I love capturing our family memories to share on my social media pages and cherish the photo albums I've created for each of our Disney vacations. As you can imagine, the parks see thousands upon thousands of visitors each day, but there are creative ways to capture some crowd-free snapshots of your special reveal. Why not purchase an iconic Mickey balloon in pink or blue and head to the left or right side of Sleeping Beauty Castle for a photo session? Most guests want to capture the castle head-on, and you'll almost always have people in the background of your photos if you do the same. But if you head down the path toward Royal Hall on the left, or toward Snow White’s Grotto on the right, you'll minimize the crowds and get a unique castle perspective as your background. You can also share your announcement photo idea with Disney PhotoPass Photographers who would be more than happy to help capture your special moment.

Another of my favorite photo locations at Disneyland Park is the pink and white teacup in Fantasyland near the Mad Hatter. Since it's set just to the side of the store entrance, you won't have guests passing behind you. You can also consider the gorgeous facade of "it's a small world" as the backdrop for your reveal. Head all the way to the right and you'll likely find a few creative angles with Mary Blair's distinctive geometric design aesthetic to work with.

I also love snapping photos at Paradise Gardens Park in Disney California Adventure Park with the iconic Pixar Pal-A-Round Ferris Wheel as a backdrop. If you stand along the railing near the water you'll have a nearly crowd-free background for your special photos.

I hope this gives you some ideas to make your special announcement magical and memorable. And if all else fails, have patience! I've captured some really beautiful photos in the seconds between passing guests.

    Wishing you a picture-perfect reveal,
    Amy
