Willkommen to planDisney, Thomas! It sounds like you are planning a fantastic trip for early next year!
While I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of German food, I can certainly get my money's worth by filling up on warm pretzel rolls, creamy cheddar cheese soup, buttery spätzle, and schnitzel at
Biergarten Restaurant located in EPCOT's Germany Pavillion. Plus, the fact that I can sip on a stein of Grapefruit Hefeweizen while listening to an oompah band in a replica of a Bavarian village makes this dining location a favorite in my book! I recommend getting a dining reservation here, and I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I've not yet had the Sauerbraten, but it is typically a popular item. However, buffet-style dining locations (or, as Disney says, "All you Care to Enjoy") have a policy that states that food cannot be taken out of the restaurant.
Sommerfest is a great nearby quick service location, but their main fare is jumbo pretzels and bratwurst. They also have a tremendously delicious Pretzel Bread Pudding that is not to be missed! Occasionally, during
EPCOT's International Festival of the Holidays, the Bavaria Holiday Kitchen will serve snack-sized portions of Sauerbraten and red cabbage; but by the time of your trip, this festival will be gone.
If none of these options sound appealing, your best bet may be to travel off property to a local Orlando German restaurant. Also, stay tuned to the
Disney Parks Blog for upcoming information on the 2023
EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, which typically occurs in the second half of January through February. Last year, the Pastoral Palate booth served some hearty dishes inspired by the "rustic settings where Bavarian Folk Art was painted." Yum!
Thomas, I hope you don your lederhosen and enjoy some tasty dishes on your trip. Prost!
