Ahoy there, Donna!
Welcome back to planDisney; we are happy to help you with another Disney vacation planning question.
Spending a day at
Disney Castaway Cay is one of my favorite things about a Disney Cruise Line holiday. You are going to love it! The snorkeling "trail" is a great way to explore the big blue world. Be on the lookout for Mickey, Prince Eric, and more under the sea. I recommend
leaving most valuables in your stateroom safe while you are off the ship. You won't need your wallet (though you will need your
government-issued ID), your Key to the World card and/or your
DisneyBand+. Most Guests leave items such as cell phones with their other belongings on beach chairs since lockers are not available on the island. If you prefer to leave an item on the ship that you would like to retrieve before or after your underwater adventure, getting back and forth to the ship is a quick process. I also bring a brightly colored beach bag to leave with my things so they are easy to spot from the water.
As someone who enjoys snorkeling on Castaway Cay, I highly recommend wearing a swim shirt or reapplying reef-safe sunscreen on your back before heading into the water. The crystal blue water and the brilliant sun are amazing to look at and provide some much-needed "vitamin SEA," but I don't want you to get too much! Don't forget to grab some towels from the Crew Members as you make your way from the ship (no need to bring them from your stateroom) so you can dry off quickly before heading off to your next Castaway experience.
Donna, I hope these tips are helpful and that you have a wonderful holiday! Sail by any time with other questions.
Wishing you many magical memories,
Shannon
