Welcome aboard, Christal! Hi from a fellow Ohio mom! Oh, I love the Western
Caribbean itinerary! My family and I have enjoyed those ports of call quite a few times, and always try a new Port Adventure each time! One of my all time favorites in Cozumel was the
Cozumel Ruins, Chocolate and Beach Break adventure!
First of all, I love any adventure that includes more than one location, so we get to see more of the island and have more experiences. We always try to include some sort of educational aspect for our kids on the adventures. This one has education, history and culture as well as some laid back fun at the beach. It's really got something for everyone, kids and adults alike! The ruins are a very interesting experience. You'll learn quite a bit on the way there in the bus from your tour guide, and then have a short guided tour before exploring a bit more on your own. My son really enjoyed this adventure and we all learned quite a bit about the Mayan culture. I highly recommend bringing water with you though, because, especially in July, it is extremely hot at the ruins. Now, the chocolate making and tasting... who wouldn't like that? More history and culture are incorporated, but your 12 year-old will not be bored with too much history because it's chocolate after all, and tasting is encouraged! Way better than history class at school! Then, it's off to the Playa Mia Beach Club to relax and enjoy the sun, surf and sand. History, culture, tasty treats, and playing on the beach. It can't be beat! Plus, the bus ride between the three spots takes you around the entire island of Cozumel, and is a mini-adventure in itself with gorgeous views!
Have fun planning! Stop back again with more questions before you set out to sea this summer! We're happy to help!
