Ahoy, Camille!
Welcome aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You've booked the right destination for your multi-generational vacation with your family. Disney Cruise Line does a fantastic job making sure Guests of all ages enjoy their magnificent vessels, so your mom will absolutely feel included during your magical week at sea.
Camille, the first thing I want to share with you is that the nightly shows are a great time to connect and enjoy live entertainment together. There are several spots in the
Walt Disney Theatre that are handicap accessible, and a Crew Member will be happy to assist your family to one of these areas when you arrive each evening. When you look at the
activities offered each day, there will be options for the entire family to enjoy, such as game shows, animation classes, trivia, BINGO, Anyone Can Cook demonstrations, first-run movies, and crafts just to name a few. All of these will be in venues that will allow your mom to utilize her wheelchair. There are three sets of elevators-Forward, Midship, and Aft, so I recommend checking the Deck Plans on the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, so you'll know the best route to get to the activities and events. Also, there will be a special area reserved for Guests traveling in a wheelchair and their families during the Sailing Away Celebration and for the Pirate Night festivities, so be sure to ask a Crew Member for directions to these spots.
If you'd like to plan some fun ashore, Disney Cruise Line now offers
Port Adventures by Accessible Travel Solutions. I suggest browsing these excursions with your mom to see if any pique your interest. On
Disney Castaway Cay, you'll find complimentary beach wheelchairs to use when you get off the tram at the Scuttle's Cove stop (first drop-off location).
I hope this is helpful, Camille. Please let us know if you have any additional questions about sailing with Disney Cruise Line and enjoy counting down to your May voyage. It will be hEAR before you know it!
Have a MAGICAL day!
Nancy
