    We are Sailing The Magic in October 2012. I know we will be not have access to our luggage for several hours at The Port and on the Ship. Is our luggage secure, and is someone going through it? I do not want to pack valuables in it, if this is the xase.

    Ahoy Teri!

    You have chosen a beautiful ship and time of year to set sail on the high seas!  When you see the majestic Magic in port you will be in awe of this amazing vessel! 

    You have an excellent question about the security of your luggage when it is not in your possession.  When you arrive at the port, a porter will take all of your baggage, and you won't see it again until late afternoon.  It will be x-rayed and held in a secure holding area until it is delivered to your stateroom.  Disney Cruise Line will not open your luggage, but Homeland Security or Custom Agents do have the right to search any baggage just as if you were at the airport.  Any valuable items or medications should be packed in your carry-on luggage just in case! 

    When you place your bags outside your stateroom on the last night of your cruise, they will be taken to secure area awaiting your arrival back at the port.  Again, DCL will not open any luggage, but it can be searched by Custom Agents or Homeland Security.

    I have cruised many times and always felt that my luggage was safe and secure in the hands of the porters and crew members.  I'm sure you will have the same feeling on your upcoming voyage!
