Welcome aboard, Traci! My family and I have sailed many times with Disney, and consider each of these trips to be the absolute best vacations we could imagine.
There was one cruise when my son came down with a double ear infection the second day onboard. He was prone to these when he was younger, so I wasn't surprised. When he started complaining that his ears hurt, I took him to the
medical center onboard the ship and was so pleased with the care he received! I can still see him now, this tiny little guy sitting on the big exam table, wearing his Peter Pan costume and looking as sad as can be. The nurse and doctor were so friendly and caring with him, prescribed him the antibiotics he needed, and sent us off with the medication to take right away. By the next day, he was back to his happy self, ready for more Disney magic!
While the medical center onboard couldn't take our insurance, and simply charged the cost of the visit to our stateroom account, they did provide us with detailed records and receipts that we then submitted to our insurance for reimbursement back home. It was pretty easy.
Hopefully you won't encounter any illness while onboard, but if you do, head straight to the medical center and they'll take great care of you and your kiddos. Certain conditions may require that the guest remain in their stateroom for a time, so as not to spread the illness, but that is determined there. Most likely, Traci, there is no reason to worry at all, and every reason to look forward to all of the
activities you'll enjoy together while sailing with Disney! Make good use of the hand sanitizer found around the ship, frequent hand washing, and the hand wipes distributed prior to entering the restaurants, and you'll be germ free!
Have so much fun on this adventure!
