Welcome aboard, Heather! My family and I sailed this past February, and I can tell you that it is really a fabulous time to sneak away to the warm waters of the Caribbean with Disney Cruise Line! You're in for such a treat!
The
Cayman Dolphin Extreme Swim is truly amazing, and something that each of your family members will remember forever! When my daughter and I swam with the dolphins, we were both so in awe of those beautiful, gentle creatures, and had such fun as they pushed us across the water and interacted with us! I'm thrilled that you'll get to experience it too!
Disney Cruise Line's Port Adventures include the transportation to and from the adventure, as well as the adventure itself. On most adventures, the whole group stays together and returns at the same time, so I'm afraid you won't be able to stay at the dolphin swim on your own afterwards, since the transfers will take you back to the port area. However, I have a great suggestion for you. There are very inexpensive buses and also taxis that run all the time from the port area to the public beach entrance of Seven Mile Beach, just down from the port. Then, return whenever you'd like!
Keep in mind as you plan your return time, however, that
Grand Cayman requires tendering on small tender boats to and from your Disney cruise ship which will be anchored out in the bay. There can be a line that forms toward the last part of the day, when all guests are trying to get back to the ship. Head back a bit earlier if you don't want to spend too much time waiting in line to board the tenders.
Have so much fun, Heather!
