Hi Suzy, welcome aboard! You're sure to have a wonderful summer vacation on the Dream! Your 17-year old will have a blast meeting new friends in the Dream's Teen Club,
Vibe. And while he's there, you can sneak away for some adults-only time, perhaps at the spa?
Onboard, you won't need to pay for much, Suzy. Your meals are all included, as are the activities and events that take place all over the ship. If you want to enjoy a meal at the Adult Exclusive restaurants onboard, Palo or Remy, there are additional charges for those. Specialty drinks, including alcohol, are extra as well.
Be sure to check out Disney's Port Adventures, which though they cost extra, are wonderful ways to explore your ports of call. Quite often, the teens in the club get to know each other and decide to sign up together for the
Wild Side Teen Adventure on Castaway Cay. Your son might find that a group of the Vibe kids are interested in that as well.
Be sure to plan for the tips too. You'll tip your dining server, assistant server, head server and stateroom host or hostess. Tips are based on how long your cruise is, and if you call Disney Cruise Line, they can tell you how much to expect for your particular sailing. Tips are per person, so include enough for both of you, and these can be pre-paid before you cruise or settled onboard.
You might use your Key To The World card to charge any fun purchases in the shops onboard or spa treatments in Senses Spa. No cash necessary, as any costs onboard go right to your account.
Have fun planning this getaway with your son, Suzy!
