We are sailing on the Dream for a 3 day cruise in Sept. It is Halloween High Seas. We received an email about costumes and no realistic weapons. Is a plastic sword for an 11 year old with a Zelda costume allowed? Thanks so much.

Welcome aboard, Melinda! We have flipped the calendar to September, which means that it won't be long until your family heads out on the high seas with Disney Cruise Line! You will love every moment of your Halloween on the High Seas sailing. My family and I think that the Halloween sailings are so exciting, as Disney really knows how to add some ghoulish fun to one already magical cruise!

I've checked with Disney Cruise Line, and they have confirmed that plastic swords are now included in the Prohibited Items ban of no toy weapons. I'm sorry that you won't be able to bring that on for the costume, but I promise that, sword or not, Mickey's Mouse-querade Party onboard is a really fun celebration! Guests will be out in costume, but so will your favorite Disney friends! Don't forget your camera! And there will also be a hauntingly fun adults-only Halloween party and costume contest, so while you're packing your kids' costumes, don't forget one for yourself!

Enjoy the last few days of planning and packing before you set sail, Melinda!
