Ahoy, Julie!
I'm excited to hEAR you are planning a cruise over Thanksgiving! All your holiday stress will be taken care of by Disney, which sounds like a perfect plan to me. My family enjoyed this same itinerary a few years ago, and we LOVED it! Sailing out of New York City past the Statue of Liberty was spectacular. One of my most favorite memories was when we cruised back into the harbor in the wee hours of the morning. Although we are not early risers, (especially on vacation) it was totally worth the predawn wake up call to see the stunning skyscrapers and Lady Liberty all lit up. We even witnessed an amazing sunrise as well. I highly recommend ending your sailing with this unique experience!
Another highlight of this cruise was when the ship docked at Port Canaveral for a day of unforgettable magic at the Walt Disney World Resort. Everything was seamless about this day from the transportation to the tickets. Our visit to the parks was not on Thanksgiving, but I do remember eating in one of the main dining rooms since we arrived back at 8:00 p.m. It was an open seating concept like they do for breakfast and lunch so we just sat wherever there was availability. I contacted Disney Cruise Line to see if they have an idea of their Thanksgiving plans and was told that it has yet to be determined. I suggest checking back with us in October to see if any new information is available.
In the past, all the parks have offered Thanksgiving dining options. If you think you'll be there all day, you may want to consider making an Advanced Dining Reservation. The 180-booking window opens May 27, 2017.
