We are sailing on the Disney Dream May 6. One day we are in Nassau. What excursions to you recommend? We will have three adults, one senior and two kids (13 and 4). Or would you just recommend getting off the ship and staying close to the ship?

    Welcome aboard, Michelle!

My family and I have visited Nassau so many times with Disney, so I've got a few suggestions for my favorite Port Adventures.

Blue Lagoon is a gorgeous island paradise, second only to Castaway Cay in my opinion! There are adventures that go there, whether to swim with the dolphins or just to enjoy the beach for the day. If you're looking for a beach day, I recommend that one over the Atlantis Beach Day for sure.

However, if you've always wanted to check out the beautiful Atlantis Resort, there are a ton of adventures that visit this spot. I'd skip the beach day there, as your best beach day will be at Castaway Cay, but the Aquaventure Waterpark there is a great one, or just the Discover Atlantis tour where you'll get to enjoy exploring the resort and its replica of the famed underwater city, with underground aquarium.

Alternately, if you want a taste of the local culture and a hands-on experience, book the Graycliff Chocolatier Tour where you'll not only tour the chocolate factory, but get to make your own chocolates and taste your creations!

Finally, sometimes just wandering the port on your own makes for a nice day. If a little shopping sounds good, the streets just down from the port are full of cute shops, and the straw market is a true cultural experience. But prepare yourself to be pulled into the straw market's booths by the friendly yet sometimes overly assertive owners, and be ready to negotiate. This can be a bit overwhelming for kids who aren't used to that kind of shopping experience, so know that ahead of time.

I hope that gives you a few ideas to get started, Michelle! Happy sailing!
