Welcome aboard, Felicia! You are in for one very magical cruise to Alaska with Disney this summer. Though I haven't had the chance to sail with Disney to Alaska (yet), I did chat with former Disney Cruise Line Mom, Andi, who has experienced eight Disney cruises to a variety of destinations and can honestly say that her Disney Alaskan cruise was not only the best cruise she's ever taken as a family, but the best vacation they've experienced together. Unlike most other cruises where the scenery is enjoyed mostly at the destination, an Alaskan cruise literally surrounds you with scenery for the journey. Therefore, the crown jewel of the Alaskan cruise experience is to spend most of the time on deck taking in the view. Just make sure you layer your clothing.
Disney makes it easy for families of all ages to savor their time on deck by providing a secure and contained area for kids who can play (and be kids) while grown ups and older kids gaze at the majestic mountains, mesmerizing glaciers and countless wildlife. Also on board, kids are treated to hands-on craft activities, story time and talks which relate to the land, people, culture and animals of Alaska. On the days at sea, Andi's kids were afforded the opportunity to talk to and ask questions of Alaskan park rangers, Native American tribe members an totem pole artists.
When her family sailed through Tracy Arm, they were treated to an on-deck salmon bake and there were many cooking demonstrations which incorporated Alaskan seafood such as crab and salmon.
Gather your family around the computer and show them some of
Andi's videos about Disney's Alaskan cruise. (Her Tracy Arm video shows the kids activities on deck - so fun!) Have a wonderful cruise, Felicia!
