Is it safe to book a 12:05pm flight home from MCO on the day we disembark Disney Wish at Port Canaveral? Do I need to use express walk off?

Ahoy there, Krystal! Thanks for stopping by planDisney. It sounds like you’re getting ready to set sail with Captain Mickey. How exciting!

I don’t usually like to talk about the end of a Disney Cruise (because let’s be honest, that’s just sad), but I completely understand wanting to make sure your journey home goes smoothly. I was in the same boat (no pun intended) when I sailed on the Disney Wish last fall and had a 12:00 PM flight. While every experience can vary, I made it to the airport with plenty of time, even enough to grab a coffee before heading to my gate!

Disney Cruise Line recommends booking return flights no earlier than 11:15 AM from Orlando International Airport (MCO), so your 12:05 PM flight should be fine. The drive from Port Canaveral to MCO takes about an hour, and if you’ve booked Disney ground transfers, shuttles run continuously to get guests to the airport efficiently.

To maximize your time, Express Walk-Off is the best option. This allows you to disembark as early as 7:00–7:30 AM (once the ship is cleared by local authorities) and head straight to the gangway with your luggage in hand, bypassing the standard disembarkation process. I used Express Walk-Off myself, and it was smooth sailing. I was off the ship quickly and on my way to the airport in no time.

If you choose Express Walk-Off, you will miss the final sit-down breakfast, but Marceline Market usually opens early, around 6:30 AM, so you can still grab a bite before heading out. If you’re like me and need one last bit of Disney magic before saying goodbye, Cove Café will also be open, and they can even print a Disney character on your latte, which is a fun little farewell before disembarking! The Disney Cruise Line Navigator app has all the details you’ll need about the debarkation process, so be sure to check the Debarkation Info section the night before or stop by Guest Services with any last-minute questions. You'll also hear announcements over the ship's PA system on debarkation morning.

I hope this helps, Krystal! Wishing you calm seas and a magical adventure ahead. If you need any more tips, whether for embarkation day or beyond, you know where to find us!
