Hi Jamie Lee!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I will be participating in the Dopey Challenge during
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and my little one is doing the runDisney Kids Race so my family was trying to plan out the exact same thing!
The first two things you'll need to consider is your anticipated pace and what corral you think you'll be in based on this. If you think you'll be in a later corral, I'd add at least an hour to the start time to account for when you'll actually cross the start line as the corrals in front of you are released. You'll then estimate the total time the race will take you, accounting for Character photos too! With the Walt Disney World Marathon starting at 5:30 AM, we'll estimate you actually start at 6:30 AM and then the race plus Characters, the race takes you 3 hours, you'd complete the race at approximately 9:30 AM! Considering this, I don't think you'd have time to return to your Walt Disney World Resort hotel, but if you head straight from the race to ESPN Wide World of Sports I think you'll certainly make it in time!
If you finish later than you initially thought or you are nervous for time, I'd recommend using a ride sharing service or even the new
Minnie Van Service! When I've utilized a service like Uber, it's been incredibly quick getting between two locations so you'll certainly be fine.
If you have the option, Friday may be easier but we planned for my son to run on Saturday! Since we won't be doing the parks at all on Saturday for me to rest up, we wanted to save Friday to get as much park time in as we can. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
