Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Courtney!
The
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is less than two weeks away, and I’m sure you’re excited about your upcoming
Walt Disney World Resort “runcation.” I know it’s meant the world to me to see my husband and daughter cheering me on through various
runDisney races, but I’ve absolutely loved
all of the spectators who come out with their cheers, applause and colorful, creative signs, too. Please be advised, though, that during the past couple of years Walt Disney World Resort has limited the spectator viewing areas both to aid with traffic and for runners’ safety, so the only official way to spot your husband on the course will be through the purchase of a
ChEAR Squad Package. This will be the only way to be at the finish line when he crosses, too.
As of right now,
Epcot is scheduled to open at 9 a.m. on the morning of the
Walt Disney World Half Marathon, so the only way you’ll be able to enter the Park is at 9 a.m. with a valid
Theme Park ticket. Depending on his corral placement and official start time, there is a very good chance your husband will cross the finish line well before the Park opens for the day. (I just checked the time stamp for my last
runDisney Half Marathon and I crossed the start line at 6:30 a.m. and the finish line at 9:15.) I would definitely recommend signing up for runner tracking (which can be done via the link to be posted on the event website or at the
runDisney Health & Fitness Expo when your husband picks up his race gEAR).
Best of luck to your husband on his race, Courtney! Please let us know if there are any other tips or suggestions we can offer as you plan your Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
