Do the runDisney marathons take you through the actual parks? And if so, do you need to buy a park ticket to participate?

    Hi Courtney!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. One of my favorite parts is getting to run through the parks before they open during a runDisney event!

Which park you run through depends on the specific race weekend, distance and course. For the Walt Disney World Marathon, runners get to run through all 4 parks during one race! My personal favorite from my past races was for Disney Princess Half Marathon where the course takes you through Cinderella Castle. The fun part is runDisney changes the courses each year too, so you'll always get to experience something new.

Since the races traditionally take part in the morning before the park opens, you do not need a ticket to enter during the event, just your running bib! Though many runners do plan on celebrating their accomplishment afterwards by visiting one of the parks. However, your race registration does not get you back into the park after you've completed the course, so if you wanted to visit the afterwards a theme park ticket would still need to be purchased.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
