Rumors online abound that on DCL, Apple iPhones, iMessaging is free between iPhones onboard or stateside, with no internet or WiFi plan needed. Is this so?

    Ahoy, Maxine!

Thank you for sailing by to "sea" us with your cruise question! You must be looking forward to a magical voyage aboard Disney Cruise Line real soon. I know you can't wait to enjoy all a cruise vacation with Disney has to offer

I recently returned from a sailing with Captains Mickey and Minnie, and I'm happy to report I was able to message my travel companions on board and my family back home using my Apple iPhone. My mobile device was in airplane mode connected to the DCL Guest Wi-Fi while utilizing iMessaging, and there was no charge to my stateroom account for this service. Text messages along with emojis worked, but I could not send pictures.

Maxine, once aboard you can stop by the Connect@Sea Desk if you have any questions about using the ship's Wi-Fi services. The hours of operation will be listed in your daily cruise newsletter, The Personal Navigator, or on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. If you decide to purchase an internet package, I recommend stopping by to pick up an information page with some helpful tips on maximizing your data plan.

Have the most MAGICAL time on your cruise vacation! If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
