Hi, Tracy!
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is such a great choice for your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation. It offers so many great activities for the whole family and you will really appreciate having the Sassagoula River Cruise available to whisk your family down to Disney Springs. Well, whisk may not be the best word to describe the trip as it is a relaxing voyage down the scenic Sassagoula River. Still, I do greatly prefer to sit back and relax (it's vacation after all!) while someone leisurely leads me down a winding river, with the wind gently blowing my hair, than to hop on a bus and rush around the Resort. Gosh, I am relaxing just thinking about that ferry ride!
You are welcome to make requests for a certain building at the resort, but please understand that this will simply be a request cannot be guaranteed. The whole resort has been undergoing enhancements for around a year and work is nearing completion. From what I understand, the Alligator Bayou rooms are completed and work has just recently started on the Mansion buildings. The first building up for a quick dust and polish is Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace should begin soon. The section being enhanced will be closed off and work will be limited to daylight hours, so it really should not interfere with your stay at any of the resort's buildings. Still, if you would like to request to stay at a different building, give
Disney Resort Reservations a call as soon as possible and ask that they note on your reservation that you would like to stay anywhere except Acadian House. With a Garden View room reservation, you could possibly be placed in one of the Alligator Bayou buildings, which may work well for you.
I hope you have a magical vacation next week and please let us know if you have any other questions!
