Hi Melissa!
Disney’s Old Key West Resort is one of my absolute favorite resorts at Walt Disney World!
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the atmosphere is relaxed and laid back and I think they have some of the best Cast Members. Fun Fact - Disney’s Old Key West Resort was the very first Disney Vacation Club Resort, and that was actually the original name of the resort!
Most of the buildings do not have elevators, and a second-floor room will have two small sets of outdoor stairs to climb. Bell Services is available, and happy to assist you with your luggage on both arrival and departure, and this includes taking your items upstairs and directly into your villa. Bell Services Cast Members drive special golf carts that my kids like to call “stretch limo golf carts” to take both you and your luggage to your villa. These golf carts have plenty of space and from personal experience, I can tell you they safely carry a family of 6 and their 13 bags! They will also pick you up on check-out day in these same vehicles to make your trip back to the Hospitality House a breeze.
If the stairs will pose a challenge for a member of your party on a daily basis, you may put in a request for a first-floor room. While requests cannot be guaranteed, Cast Members will do their best. On my parents’ most recent stay at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, I requested a first-floor room for them due to my father’s hip trouble, and I noted the reason on the reservation. We were very grateful that the Cast Members were able to accommodate this request and it was a big help to my dad.
While you are planning your stay, I recommend considering a day to relax and enjoy the resort. Dinner at
Olivia’s Cafe is a Disney Vacation Club Member favorite, and I personally recommend both the appetizers and beverages from
The Gurgling Suitcase! I hope you’ll let us know what additional questions you have as you continue to plan your stay at Disney’s Old Key West Resort!
