Is the room key on the cruise the same as if you stay in a Disney resort??? (The bracelet)

    Ahoy Keyra!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  I am so glad you sailed by with your question today.

Disney Cruise Line does not use the MagicBands you are used to using at Walt Disney World Resort.  Instead, you will be given a Key to the World Card when you check in at the cruise terminal on embarkation day.  This card is about the size of a standard credit card and lives up to it's name - it is your Key to the World!  It is used to unlock your stateroom and make charges to your stateroom account.  On the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream, it is also used to control the lights in your stateroom.  Most importantly, you are required to take this card with you anytime you debark the ship at port and you will be required to show it once you come back to the ship.

It is important that every member of your pirate crew carries this card with them.  If you are a returning cruiser and member of the Castaway Club, you will be given a lanyard when you check in for your cruise.  This can easily be worn around your neck with your card attached which is very convenient.  If you are a first time cruiser, you may want to purchase a lanyard before your sailing with a clear case on the end to keep your Key to the World card with you while onboard the ship.

If you have pirates-in-training that will be using the youth clubs, they will be given a MagicBand when you register them to check in and out of these spaces.  This MagicBand does need to be returned on the final night of your sailing or you may choose to keep it for a fee.

Have fun making magical memories!  Angie
