Hey there, hi there, ho there Amanda! You're as welcome as can be at planDisney. Just a few more sleeps until your magical vacation... woo hoo! What a fun question, I'd be happy to weigh in on this and help sprinkle some pixie-dust on your Disney Park coaster plans.
Walt Disney World has so many attraction offerings, from wild to mild. I've seen my Mouseketeers go through different stages with their ride tastes, so I'm familiar with these ranges. I'm proud of you for tackling Space Mountain! I think the darkness element makes that one even more daunting, as your body does not know what to expect next. Now you know your boundaries, so let's find you a practically perfect coaster that is just FUN... but not too intense!
Of course if you have health concerns, you will always want to be mindful of any warnings posted at the attractions.
My top recommendations for "just right" coasters you may love.
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - at Magic Kingdom, and a popular choice with longer wait times... but totally worth it! You do have the option of purchasing a Lightning Lane Single Pass for this attraction, in order to skip the standby line.
- Slinky Dog Dash - at Hollywood Studios, another top pick of guests for a reason. This ride truly completes the Toy Story Land immersive experience, and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face without being too intense.
- Test Track - at EPCOT, this one is a more unique experience, newly reimagined with a storyline of testing out futuristic car prototypes. It isn't a traditional coaster, but there aren't any steep declines or drops and the speed loop at the end is very exciting!
The first two coasters I mentioned were designed with kiddos in mind, providing a bit of a thrill but at less intense speeds and inclines. If you try these, and decide you're ready to up your game to the next level I'd recommend checking out
Expedition Everest or
Big Thunder Mountain. Place Big Thunder on your "next trip" list, as it's currently being re-imagined, but I think you'd love it. It was my first ever roller coaster years ago as a tween, is classified as having "small drops", and is still my all time favorite! Everest does have large drops, but I feel it's less intense than Space Mountain.
Amanda, I hope this helps, that you find a new favorite coaster to love, and that you have the best. Trip. Ever!! Please feel free to send us any other questions at planDisney, we love to assist guests.
Go. Live your dream.
