Hi Alexander, and welcome to planDisney! I’m sorry to hear about your son’s wrist, but Disney World can still be a magical trip even with a cast.
While there aren’t specific rules at Disney World regarding riding attractions while wearing a cast, I’d recommend talking to your son’s doctor about what he can safely ride during your vacation. Also, one of my fellow panelists, Elaine P., shared
tips from her own experience being at Disney World with a wrist cast that might be helpful as you plan your trip.
If your son wants to skip a specific ride, you might want to take advantage of
Rider Switch so one person in your group can always stay with him while everyone else goes on the attraction. This has been really helpful for my family since my nephew is too short for some rides.
One thing that’s helpful to know about is the
First Aid locations in the theme parks that you can visit if your son needs medical assistance. They can also help with over-the-counter medications, band-aids, and other quick fixes.
And if you’re looking to take a break from the rides, don’t forget there are so many amazing shows at Disney World. My favorites are
Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom (it’ll make you feel like you’re watching a mini Broadway-style show!) and
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Hollywood Studios. And in terms of nighttime spectaculars,
Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios might be a great option. Since there’s seating, it’s less likely that someone might bump into your son’s cast.
I’m wishing your family a safe and magical visit to Disney World! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
