Hi there, Bill!
Welcome back to
planDisney, and thanks for asking us another question! I’m a big fan of introducing little ones to the magic of Disney early on, so I’m thrilled to hear you’ll be exploring the
Disneyland Resort theme parks with your young child soon!
Yes, for any
attraction not suitable for your child, you are welcome to take advantage of the
Rider Switch program, which will allow you to take turns experiencing attractions. One adult from your group can ride while another stays with your child. When the riders return, the supervising adult (along with one more Guest, if you wish) can enjoy the attraction without waiting in line again. Simply go to the entrance of the attraction with your whole party and let a Cast Member know you’d like to use Rider Switch. The ticket of the supervising adult will be scanned at this time and then re-scanned by a Cast Member later when the Rider Switch entitlement is used.
Don’t worry, Bill. In my experience, you can use Rider Switch if a child doesn’t meet the height requirement, but also if someone in your party can’t board an attraction for another reason, like a Guest who is unable to wait in a queue but cannot be left alone or a young child who is not brave enough to ride and needs supervision while waiting for others to enjoy the attraction. There are also dozens of attractions that even the littlest Mouseketeers are bound to love. Some favorites that my whole family likes to experience together are
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Peter Pan’s Flight,
Pixar Pal-A-Round (be sure to choose the non-swinging gondolas), and Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!
I hope this helps answer your question, Bill! Please stop by again with any other questions you have as your pixie-dusted vacation approaches.
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
