All aboard, John!
While it's not the wildest ride in the wilderness here at planDisney, I'm happy to be your conductor as we discuss the trains of Walt Disney World Resort.
Personally, I'm especially partial to the Walt Disney World Railroad because of how dear trains were to Walt Disney himself. It's such a special homage to the man who dreamed seemingly impossible dreams and dared to share his magic with the world. Nostalgia aside, it also makes a great way to save a few steps as you conquer the mountains of Magic Kingdom Park. Although the
Main Street, U.S.A. Station can be seen and heard from outside Magic Kingdom Park's points of entry, Guests will need a theme park ticket to access any of the three stations and enjoy a ride on the vintage locomotive.
Now, if you're hoping to enjoy a train ride without a park ticket, I'm happy to share that my favorite magical train, the
Walt Disney World Monorail system, is accessible outside of the theme parks. By boarding at the Transportation and Ticket Center, you could enjoy a loop through Disney's Monorail Resort Hotels before being treated to a view of
Magic Kingdom Park's highlights including Cinderella Castle and Space Mountain. If you'd like to disembark, I encourage you to try some of the incredible dining on the Resort Loop such as
Kona Cafe at Dinsey's Polynesian Village Resort or
Enchanted Rose at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The Transportation and Ticket Center is also home to the EPCOT Monorail which will give you wonderful aerial views with a delightful loop through
EPCOT before stopping at the EPCOT Station just outside the front entrance. My husband and I once enjoyed a resort-only stay at The Polynesian, and we repeatedly boarded the Monorail to catch glimpses of the magic inside the theme parks.
Similarly, the
Disney Skyliner is a fun method of transportation that does not require a theme park ticket but will allow you to enjoy the dining offered at several Disney Resort hotels as well as
Disney's BoardWalk.
I hope this was helpful, John. If any additional questions arise as you chug along toward your next vacation, feel free to
stop back by. I'm always happy to help!
Cheers,
Lizzie
