Hiya, Rachel, and welcome to planDisney! You're knee-deep in
Walt Disney World Resort magic, and I'm sprinkling pixie dust your way so you'll have a fabulous visit.
TRON Lightcycle / Run is one of my favorite attractions, so let's talk about how the
virtual queue works.
Guests who don't secure a boarding group for the 7:00 AM virtual queue can try again at 1:00 PM, as long as they're scanned in at
Magic Kingdom Park. My tip is to set an alarm on your phone so you can log in to your app, tap "Virtual Queue" from the Welcome screen, and choose your party a few minutes before 1:00. Boarding groups typically fill up quickly and with good reason; this ride is so exhilarating!
When I visited a few weeks ago, this attraction did not give an estimated call-back time. Other virtual queues provide an estimate in minutes, although it's always a rough guess and often fluctuates. The app does let you know what boarding group range is currently boarding for TRON, but I've found it challenging to translate that to a return time.
When you do get called back to board, you'll have 60 minutes to join the line. While it's at the discretion of the Cast Members to allow late entry, I've found they typically adhere to that window for this attraction. Although traveling to
EPCOT is relatively easy on the
monorail, you must change lines at the Transportation and Ticket Center. I usually allow myself around 45 minutes to travel between parks.
Considering all of that, I suggest you stay at Magic Kingdom Park so you don't miss your boarding group. If you have the
Park Hopper option, you can head to another park anytime, but you risk missing your return window. Spending time in EPCOT sounds lovely, but the stress of rushing back wouldn't be fun for me.
My husband and I recently spent an afternoon at Magic Kingdom Park enjoying the sit-down attractions like Disney's Carousel of Progress, The Hall of Presidents, and Mickey's PhilharMagic. We also took a spin on the Liberty Square Riverboat and explored Tom Sawyer Island. These activities are often overlooked, but we had a blast!
Rachel, I hope you have a fantastic time entering the Grid and racing for Team Blue! Please stop
planDisney anytime!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
