After reviewing the disney dinig plan brochure for 2009, I have noticed that table service meals no longer include appetizer. It says Appetizer (Guests ages 3-9 only), does this mean only kids get an appetizer? Or is it a misprint?

This is not a misprint. There are several versions of the Disney Dining Plan. Some of them do include an appetizer and some do not. Let me explain the different plans.

    Quick Service Plan
    :

    - One refillable mug person
    - Two snacks, per person, per night
    - Two quick service meals, per person, per night. This includes: One entree or combo meal, one dessert (at lunch/dinner), and one non-alcoholic beverage.

    Disney Dining Plan:

    - One snack, per person, per night
    - One quick service meal, per person, per night. This includes: One entree or combo meal, one dessert (lunch/dinner), and one non-alcoholic beverage.
    - One table service meal, per person, per night. This includes: One entree or full service buffet, one dessert (at lunch/dinner) and one non-alcoholic beverage. CHILDREN'S TABLE SERVICE MEALS INCLUDE APPETIZER, ENTREE, DESSERT, AND BEVERAGE.

    Disney Deluxe Dining Plan
    :

    - One refillable mug person
    - Two snacks, per person, per night
    - Three meals, per person, per night, any of which may be table service or quick service.
    - For table service meals: Both adult and child meals include APPETIZER, entree, dessert (at lunch/dinner), and non-alcoholic beverage.

Whether you get an appetizer depends on the age of the guest and the type of dining plan. With the basic dining plan, only children will be getting an appetizer. This is usually something very small, like a bowl of soup or carrot and celery sticks -- really just enough to keep a child busy while they're waiting for the main meal. In situations where an adult appetizer is not part of the Dining Plan, you are still welcome to order an appetizer. You'll just have to pay for it out of pocket.
