I am reusing a Magic Band but was told the battery in it has a limited life. Is there any way to test the battery in my bands to see if they are still good? I don't want to head straight to a park with a "dead" band.

    Hey Carla,

This is an excellent question and one that I can't seem to find a definitive answer to.  Everything that I have read indicates that the batteries will last between one to three years.  Some Disney tech nerds have dissected the bands and have determined that the band is made up of active and passive electronics.  The passive portion, not powered by a battery, will work for any "Mickey Globe" activity such as room keys, park entrance and payments and should not be affected by battery life. Too much geek talk, but I thought it was worth mentioning.  My recommendation is that if your Magic Band is less than two years old, you should be OK.  Even Disney has now stopped sending Magic Bands for every trip and will allow you to use an existing band which gives me a vote of confidence that my band will work for multiple vacations.

Thanks for letting me present "Tech Talk" today.  Hope you found it interesting.
