Welcome back to planDisney, Samantha! I’m thrilled you sailed back to us with your question about MagicBands.
Like your Aunt, I too have quite the collection of MagicBands from previous magical Disney vacations. If I understand your question correctly, you’re asking if a MagicBand can be used aboard Disney Cruise Line. At this time, they are not compatible. However, you can use both MagicBand+ and
DisneyBand+ on select ships and itineraries. Keep in mind, once on board, only
one DisneyBand+ and one Key to the World card per Guest can be linked to a stateroom.
My last sailing on the
Disney Wish was the first time I ever sailed with a DisneyBand+ and I loved how it enhanced my voyage! Not only did it allow me to embark and disembark with ease, I loved how it lit up along with interactive entertainment moments, like fireworks during
Pirate Night.
Of course, DisneyBand+ also streamlines paying for your favorite Disney Cruise souvenirs (we’re a
pin-trading family) and adult beverages. And even with all these enhanced features, it’s waterproof and rechargeable!
Knowing that you would have one more thing to plug in, it can be tempting to want to bring an extension cord or surge protector, but
these items are prohibited on a Disney Cruise. Since I typically travel with my teens and young adults who carry quite a few electronic devices, I pack a little USB charging hub for each family member. And because
staterooms are outfitted with a combination of 110V and 220V outlets, I bring my European-compatible hubs as well to optimize our charging stations.
So while I may not have given you the answer you anticipated, I hope I’ve shown you just a few of the reasons why I believe purchasing a DisneyBand+ to use on your next Disney Cruise will enhance your experience. Please come back to
planDisney if you have any more questions before your trip.
Bon voyage!
Sami
