Hi, Laurie! Thank you for reaching out to planDisney with your question.
A Disney Cruise is filled with memorable moments, such as unexpectedly bumping into Belle in the hallway or swapping pins with Crew Members and fellow travelers. I recently came across a TikTok post from
Disney Parks that sparked a wave of excitement – the return of Cast-to-Guest pin trading on April 7, 2024. It looks like you are also excited about this news. I contacted a shoreside Cast Member to confirm if this also applies to the cruise ships.
According to the Cast Member I spoke with, pin trading onboard is a more relaxed affair compared to the formal process in the parks. You'll discover a mystery pin-trading box in one of the gift shops. When I was on the Wonder this past summer, it was in
Mickey’s Mainsail. Guests select a number and trade for the Disney pin in the numbered drawer. If you like the pin, you can keep it or choose a second drawer, adding a touch of fun and surprise to the experience. I know that this is not the news you were hoping to hear. I have my fingers crossed that the Officers will return to pin trading soon. Such a fun and cherished tradition for many Disney fans. Let's hope for the best!
While exploring the ship, keep an eye out for pin-trading boards hanging outside stateroom doors. Select a pin you like and leave one of your own behind. If you’re part of a cruise group on social media, you could ask if others would like to trade pins. During my Thanksgiving voyage, there were over twenty cabins with pin-trading boards! I hope you have fun searching the ship for opportunities to trade and add special pins to your collection.
SEAS the adventure!
