Hi! Returning guests to WDW. Never stayed on resort. DD5, birthday celebration and going with a princess theme. Would your rec. PO FQ or CSprings resort? Which is closer to MK?

Hi, Meghan!  How exciting that you are getting to celebrate your daughter's big birthday with a trip to Walt Disney World!

The closest moderate of the two to the Magic Kingdom is Port Orleans French Quarter, at least by a little bit.  Coronado Springs is probably the furthest moderate resort from the Magic Kingdom, but you hardly notice when you're using the Walt Disney World transportation.

This is a great time to ask me what my recommendation is for your lovely little princess' birthday celebration!  I love both Port Orleans French Quarter and the Coronado Springs, but if you really want to keep with the princess theme, Port Orleans Riverside just introduced the new Royal Rooms!  These rooms are absolutely created for a princess, with everything from bedspreads adorned with tiaras, portraits of all of your favorite Disney princesses, and your very own fireworks display whenever you want it on your headboard!  No detail has been overlooked in creating a room fit for a princess - or prince!  It might be a third option for you to consider when making your birthday reservations.

If you wanted to just make the decision between the French Quarter and Coronado Springs, it would almost be a toss up, but I'd probably go with French Quarter.  The resort is more intimate, which means less walking for tired little legs at the end of the day; and I think the French Quarter pool area is a great place for children to play.  I also love that it reminds me of Princess Tiana from one of my favorite Disney movies!

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful birthday celebration, and a fantastic vacation!
