Hi again Susan! I live with the fussiest of eaters, so I definitely have experience dining at Walt Disney World with picky eaters!
The food at Boma is so tasty, but you're right that many of the items on the buffet there have unusual and flavorful spices and sauces. There are, however, some plain meats on the buffet, as well as a children's section with more traditional kids' fare. My finicky husband was able to find plenty to eat on the buffet, and my picky son survives on bread and dessert so he didn't leave hungry either. (Even the pickiest of eaters love Zebra Domes!) If all of the members of your family are fussy eaters, you probably wouldn't find the cost of the buffet at Boma to be worthwhile, however, since a good portion of the offerings are not "plain."
If your family likes your food less exotic, you may prefer to dine at
Jiko. The food there is delicious and since it's made to order, the chefs are happy to customize meals to your taste. When my family dined at Jiko, the server was able to accommodate my husband's request to hold the sauce on his filet mignon, substitute macaroni for the vegetables, and serve his plate in what the restaurant called "tv dinner style" so that the meat and other foods were not touching each other. My son was happy that the kids menu offered cheese pizza, and other finicky kids would enjoy the macaroni, grilled chicken or grilled steak.
