Hi Gina!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! One of the magical parts of
My Disney Experience is that everyone can control their own vacation fun. If the friend who made the reservation will be staying with you, and you are both listed on the reservation, then your first step is to add each other as friends and family in My Disney Experience. Once you are connected this way, you can share your plans and have yourself linked to the reservation. If you are the primary adult listed on the reservation, then you will need to get the resort reservation number from your friend. With that number, you can link the reservation to your own My Disney Experience account, even though the Membership belongs to them.
After you are linked to the resort reservation in My Disney Experience either as the primary Guest, or as a secondary Guest on your friend’s reservation, go ahead and buy your tickets through Disney. If you are signed in to your account, you can purchase your tickets online and link them immediately to each person in your family. You can even purchase the tickets and link them to each family member before you have the resort reservation linked, if that is easier.
We do this frequently as we often bring my parents along with us on our vacations. My parents have their own My Disney Experience accounts, and purchase and link their own tickets separately. Everything has always worked very smoothly for us. Let me know what other questions you have as you plan your magical vacation.
Happy Planning!
