Is there a resource guide to the transportation schedules and routes within Walt Disney World? We would like to spend a day exploring the different property, but we would like to plan out our transportation so we won't have to double back often.

    Hello Cristina!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question! The Walt Disney World Resort transportation system is bigger than many Guests might imagine, with the bus system reportedly the third-largest in Florida! Disney’s Monorail is one of the busiest in the world, and with a fleet of boats in the hundreds, Disney’s boat system is a small navy!

I applaud you for planning your route in advance. While there is not a specific printed resource guide for transportation, I can point you in the direction of some general online information. As a rule, Disney transportation does not run on a set schedule, so you won’t be able to plan to catch a specific bus at a specific time. Transportation runs continuously, with the goal to be approximately 20 minutes or so between routes. That being said, sometimes you may find buses that come back-to-back, or find yourself waiting a bit longer for your boat to arrive. Also, please be aware that due to safety protocols and social distancing, you may not be able to board the first bus, boat, or Monorail that arrives. It is always best to pack a little patience and leave yourself more than enough time to get from point A to point B, especially if you have a reservation or need to be at a destination at a specific time.

You can start by checking out Disney’s Resort Transportation Page for a general overview of all your transportation options - bus, water transportation, Disney’s Monorail, and Disney’s Skyliner. I would also download the My Disney Experience Mobile App. Using the map feature of the My Disney Experience Mobile App, and choosing the transportation option from the top menu, you can see the various transportation modes available at each location and can even enter a location and destination to ask for specific directions. Spending some time with this option may help you plan your day better. Once you are at the Walt Disney World Resort, if you are at a Disney Resort Hotel, the My Disney Experience Mobile App can tell you when the next bus is anticipated to arrive. I will attach a video to this answer with my fellow planDisney Panelists demonstrating some of features of the My Disney Experience Mobile App, including checking bus times.

I hope this helps as you begin your planning, Cristina. You are also welcome to submit additional questions here on planDisney if you’d like guidance or a recommendation on a specific route or plan. We are happy to help!
