We're so glad you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Michele!
Henna tattoos, which were popularized by Indian and Middle Eastern traditions, are a fun and temporary way to get a cultural experience and a super unique vacation souven-EAR! At Walt Disney World Resort, you can get a henna tattoo at the Morocco Pavillion in
Epcot, or Africa's Mombasa Marketplace at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park- just look for the signs that say The Art of Henna. If you have plans to go to Disney Springs, you can also stop by the
Face Painting Kiosk by Enjoy Your Face. No reservations are needed.
Guests pick their design from a three-ring binder, which lists prices and gives suggestions on tattoo placements. Some designs are traditional, while others have a little Disney flair, such as Mickey heads or Rafiki's drawing of Simba. The artists use an applicator that looks like a gel pen to paint the henna directly onto the skin; the longer you can leave it on, the deeper the stain penetrates, and the longer it will last. Just don't plan to take a dip in your Walt Disney World Resort's swimming pool immediately after! Moms Panel tip: You can also ask for the artist to add a little touch of Disney pixie dust glitter to your design before it dries. Once the original henna paste has peeled away, you'll be left with a beautiful "tattoo" that turns a reddish-brown.
Michele, I hope you're able to leave a mark on the "World" during your upcoming trip! See ya' real soon!
