do the resorts have a good detailed map of the parks and the down town disney area? Also needing to get directions from our Port Orleans french quarter resort to Budget rental car at the Double tree here at disney world how do we get there?

    Sheri,

Yes, you can pick up theme park and Downtown Disney maps at any of the Disney resorts.

By the way, if you want an "advance preview", there are a number of web sites the have scanned versions of the maps that you can look at now. They may not be the most up to date, but they will be new enough to take care of your needs. The one I go to is WillCAD.org. This is NOT an official Disney site, but a personal enthusiast's site. Oh, and they also have resort maps too!

As for your transportation question, what you could do is take the boat from your resort to Downtown Disney, and then walk down Hotel Plaza Boulevard to the Double Tree. It is a bit of a hike though. You would be walking between a half a mile and a mile to get there. Add that to the 20 minute boat ride, and it may be as easy to grab a very short cab ride over for probably no more than $10.

I hope that this helps. Feel free to write me back with any follow-up questions!

    Have a magical vacation!
