Hi Jared,
One thing that makes Walt Disney World Resort vacations so magical is the chance to meet and interact with some beloved Disney friends! While I have seen pictures of a few characters visiting Guests at Disney Resort hotel pools, those were definitely some pixie-dusted moments for the pool-goers and not a regularly scheduled experience that you should plan on. Of course, it can't hurt to ask the Cast Member at the check-in desk when you arrive if they know of any special character visits planned during your stay! One thing you definitely
could do at your Resort hotel, though, is schedule a wake-up call. There's no better way to start a magical day than to hear from a Disney friend!
For the chance to interact with your favorite characters personally, I recommend trying some
character meals. Not only will you find a wide variety of delicious food, but the characters come right to you during your meal! You'll also find many opportunities to
meet the characters around the theme parks. Definitely check the Times Guide when you arrive to see who will be available to meet at various locations and times. In the all new Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, and Green Army Men often roam the land, giving a much more casual and impromptu feel to your time with them. Oh, and while you won't be able to meet any characters personally, the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom Park and Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios are two excellent chances to see LOTS of beloved characters.
Thanks so much for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Jared, and please let us know if you have any other questions as you're planning your trip. I hope that you have a truly magical vacation!
Missy
