Welcome back to planDisney, Patricia!
My family LOVES to celebrate Easter at Disney, and we’ve done so every chance we’ve had for the past several years. There is a special
springtime magic in the theme parks and resorts, and we just love it. I’m so excited for you to enjoy a special Easter visit in just a few short weeks!
In past years my family has met Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Daisy Duck at Disney resort hotels on Easter Sunday. We have some darling photos to remember those Easters! I remember the first year, we had zero expectation that there would be any Easter magic at the resorts, but we were so surprised to see Mickey looking like he had stepped right out of the Easter parade in the lobby of our hotel! We were headed to Easter brunch, so were dressed in our springtime best, which made for the perfect pictures. Now I always pack pastel outfits for our Disney Easter day!
As you may know,
character experiences are happening a little differently right now due to the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort. We don’t yet know what’s in store at the resort hotels this year for Easter, but I wouldn’t expect character meet and greets, as
physical distancing requirements are in place for Guests’ and characters’ safety. Similarly, events like candy scrambles don’t allow physical distancing, so I wouldn't expect to see those. At one resort, we experienced a kind of “candy line,” where we were given treat bags and walked through a fun line where Cast Members put treats in our bags, and I’m wondering if something creative might be in the works this year to allow the same sweet fun, but in a safe manner.
Resort Easter experiences usually aren’t announced until the beginning of Easter weekend, so my advice is to look for signs at your hotel when you arrive, or ask a Cast Member if you don’t see any. They will have the most up to date information about activities! You might also want to pop into your resort hotel gift shop, as they often sell customizable Easter baskets.
I would also recommend taking a look at Disney resort hotel restaurant menus to see if a brunch option appears on the menu. I noticed
Olivia’s Café at Disney’s Old Key West Resort is offering
brunch on weekends starting April 3, 2021, and the brunch menu looks delicious.
I’m wishing you and your family a very
hop-py Easter, Patricia! Be sure to read the
Disney Parks Blog as you count down the days to your visit, as they may share more information about Easter and springtime activities, dining options, and treats as we get closer to the Easter Bunny’s big day. And, of course, come see us if we can help with any more questions!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
