Hello, Edward, and welcome to planDisney! As a fellow Floridian and
Annual Passholder, I'd love to help you today. Purchasing a pass for your grandson is a generous gift of magic; I hope the two of you get to visit the parks many, many times together. Let's look at ways to activate resident passes to get the party started!
I chatted with a helpful Cast Member who said your grandson does not need to be present when you purchase the Annual Pass in person at the
Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs or any
Guest Relations location. Since he's under 18, he isn't required to show proof of residency.
Whenever you decide to activate the pass, whether at the time of purchase or a later date, you must show
valid proof of Florida residency that matches the information you used when buying the pass. One option is for you to activate the pass at the time of purchase; your grandson will be able to use the pass anytime with any adult from then on. If you wait until his first visit to a theme park, you would need to be present to activate his pass by showing the purchaser's proof of residency.
Since I don't know all the details of your plans, I recommend you call the
Annual Passholders line. Once you've explained how you'd like to proceed with purchasing and activating the pass, the Cast Members can best advise you. They're like personal Fairy Godparents!
When my son was about that age, his favorite activity in all of
Walt Disney World Resort was heading to
The LEGO® Store at Disney Springs. I bet your grandson would love to check out the life-size displays there. Give my best to Brickley the Sea Serpent!
Edward, I'm wishing on a star that you can have many enchanting Disney moments with your grandson. Please stop by
planDisney anytime!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
