Ahoy, Kevin! Thanks for cruising by planDisney with your question. I’m happy to help you chart the best course from Walt Disney World Resort to your Disney Cruise at Port Canaveral.
Disney Cruise Line offers motorcoach style
ground transportation from most Walt Disney World Resort hotels (with the exception of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels and Shades of Green) right to the port. For 2025 sailings, the cost is currently $45 USD per Guest, each way, ages 3 and up, but keep in mind, prices are always subject to change. The Disney Cruise Line motorcoaches have restrooms onboard, play Disney movies, and best of all, take care of your luggage. On embarkation morning, your bags are picked up from your Disney Resort Hotel room and the next time you see them will be in your stateroom! Plus, Guests using Disney transportation don’t need to select a
Port Arrival Time; you’ll be assigned an arrival around 11:00 a.m.
If you prefer a private transfer, Disney Cruise Line can arrange one for you through a contracted town car company. This is typically more expensive than the motorcoach and pricing is provided closer to your sail date (about 90 days out). The perk here is flexibility, since you can arrive at the port whenever you like, and your luggage will still be handled for you.
Of course, you can also arrange your own transportation, whether that’s a private van, town car, or even an Uber XL. For larger groups like yours, booking independently can sometimes be more cost-effective than paying per person for Disney’s motorcoach. The trade-off is that you’ll need to manage your own luggage and select a Port Arrival Time in advance.
Whichever option you choose, I recommend securing your transfers well ahead of your cruise. You can add Disney transfers when you book your sailing, through the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, or by
calling Disney Cruise Line directly. If you booked with a travel agent or Disney Vacation Club, they can make the arrangements for you.
I’ve personally done both. The motorcoach was wonderful when my kids were younger, but for bigger groups, private transportation can be a nice way to travel together and sometimes save a bit of money.
Wishing you smooth sailing, Kevin!
Sea ya real soon,
Eean
