If I reserve a room at a Disney Resort Hotel, do I get a discount when I buy a park ticket? If I need to cancel this room reservation and have already purchased the park ticket for the duration of my stay can I get a refund for the park ticket?

Hey Howdy Hey Lucy and welcome to planDisney!

I am so excited to hear that you are planning on visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth next year. While this is a super exciting time, the realization is that pricing can be a big concern when families are planning their vacations. Thank you for your question about the specific terms and conditions of your vacation. I will be happy to give you a few scenarios to consider so you can better plan for your upcoming trip.

The two options you have when planning your vacation are to book a vacation package, which will include your Disney Resort hotel and theme park tickets, or you can book everything individually.

When booking a vacation package, this typically is the best deal. After you book your Disney Resort hotel, you can select your theme park tickets which usually will come with a discount compared to buying them separately. When you do purchase a vacation package, the terms and conditions are really reasonable. While a down payment is required to keep your booking, the final amount will be due 30 days before your vacation. If you were to cancel for any reason before the 30-day mark, you will receive a full refund. Cancelations made between 2 and 29 days from your date of arrival will forfeit the down payment. Any cancelations made less than 2 days will forfeit the total amount.

If you were to book your resort hotel and tickets separately, this would work differently. With a room-only reservation, a deposit equivalent to the first night's stay plus tax will be required to hold your reservation. In 2025, if you were to cancel 8 days or more from your date of arrival you get your full refund. Any cancelation made after the 8-day mark will forfeit the deposit. Theme park tickets when purchased individually have a non-refundable policy. If you were to cancel your vacation, in most cases, Disney will allow you to use the purchase of unused tickets for the purchase of new tickets. Very rarely will they give a refund due to the policy.

One thing that may give you peace of mind when booking your vacation is travel insurance. You can typically find variable products available by doing an online search for "travel insurance". Make sure to read through the policies as they are not all created equally. These can come in handy if you have concerns that may come up that may help to recoup part or all of the expenses lost.

I hope this information clears up the terms and conditions for each option. Please let us know if you have any further questions, we are always happy to help!

    To Infinity and Beyond,

    Nick
