Hi Carla, and welcome back to planDisney! I absolutely love staying at
Art of Animation Resort. It always makes me feel like I’ve been dropped right in the middle of my favorite movies!
Now, let’s talk about the accommodations you booked. The Little Mermaid rooms are sized similarly to a standard hotel room. When you first walk in, you’ll see a small table and two chairs, a television and dresser, and two Queen beds (there are also rooms with one King bed, but with three guests, you’ll be assigned a room with two beds). The bathroom area is separated by a curtain and there’s another small room with a shower and toilet, which has a door. This is a nice setup because someone can be taking a shower while another person brushes their teeth at the sink--perfect for when everyone is getting ready for the parks!
If you’re looking for a little more space, you might prefer one of the
Family Suites at Art of Animation, which has a separate bedroom and two full bathrooms. They’re themed to Cars, Finding Nemo, and The Lion King, and are a little closer to the lobby and bus transportation. The Little Mermaid rooms are about a quarter of a mile from that main area.
If you go with a Family Suite, you can still walk over to the Little Mermaid-themed area to visit and take pictures. Art of Animation is such a fun resort with the larger-than-life character figures around the resort! My favorite spot is the Cars-themed area because you really feel immersed in Route 66!
The Little Mermaid was also one of my favorite movies growing up. And there are so many opportunities to find Ariel in the Most Magical Place on Earth!
At
Hollywood Studios, there’s a brand new stage show,
The Little Mermaid - A Musical Adventure, featuring all of the beloved songs from the movie. You can also
meet Ariel from the live-action film and see classic Ariel in
Fantasmic!, one of my favorite nighttime spectaculars. The mashup of songs when Ariel and Eric float by, along with Belle and the Beast, and Snow White and her Prince always gives me the chills!
And over at
Magic Kingdom, Ariel from the animated film can be found at her own
meet and greet and on one of the floats in the
Festival of Fantasy Parade. If you’re still yearning to be part of Ariel’s world, you can do just that by boarding a clamshell and reliving her story on
Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid.
I’m wishing you the most magical trip with your Ariel-loving daughter and her friend! If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
