We have reservations at 8:15 and the park open at 9. My understanding is that the transportation starts one hour before the park opens. Do we have to pay for special transportation?

    Hi Kara,

Depending on where you're staying, a taxi might be a faster way to get to a theme park prior to park opening; however, this isn't really necessary. The full Disney transportation system gets going about an hour before park opening, but there are also earlier buses, boats, and monorails run for guests that need to get to breakfast reservations and morning tours.

Fellow Panelist Bret recently made a trip to WDW and got some great information on the early morning bus situation. I'm going to refer you to his post here.

I will also add that I always have at least two early character breakfasts in the theme parks on every Disney vacation. I rely almost exclusively on WDW transportation on my trips. I have used the Disney buses and boats MANY times very early in the morning to get to my character meals with no problems. If you have any concerns, just stop at the Guest Services desk at your resort the night before your breakfast to double check the best time for you to be at the bus stop. They'll be able to tell you exactly what to do.
