We have reservations at the Garden Grill but I am a little worried. I don't eat beef or pork and my husband is a vegetarian. Should I call the reservations number back and let them know (we are going the 12/30/08)? What are our choices?

Food at the Garden Grill is served family-style, which means that large platters of food are brought to the table from which everyone serves themselves. Everyone in the restaurant gets the same food; there is no menu to order from. These platters are "all you care to eat." If you need more of any item, just tell your server and he or she will keep bringing more until you've had enough. At the Garden Grill, the standard platter for adults includes flank steak, roasted turkey, fried catfish, potato casserole, salad biscuits, and fresh veggies (many grown right there in the Land pavilion). The kids' platter includes mac 'n cheese and chicken strips.

So, what do you do if you're a vegetarian in this situation? First, yes, I would call Disney Dining (407-WDW-DINE) and let them know about your needs. There are often substitutions that can be made for any guest with a food-related issue. For example, the food at the Hoop Dee Doo is also served family-style, but they will swap the ribs for salmon or pasta upon guest request. Second, simply tell your server that you do not want the steak brought out on the platter because no one will eat it. They will be happy to replace it with more of another item. Your hubby can have as much as he likes of the veggies, biscuits, and potatoes. He can also ask for mac 'n cheese for himself. The vegetables at the Garden Grill are really delicious, my non-veggie eating daughter even asked for more.

If you want to dine in this unique location (revolving restaurant!), I don't think you'll have any problem finding enough to eat.
