Welcome to planDisney, Jamie!
Jamie, I completely understand your concerns. While I know that Walt Disney World Resort is making every effort to keep all Guests and Cast Members as safe as possible, if you are not quite ready to visit, the best thing to do is to push your vacation by a bit.
Jamie, the cancellation and modification policy will depend on how you booked your vacation.
If you booked a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package, including your
resort hotel room and theme park tickets, then you can modify or cancel your vacation up to 30-days before your check-in date without a penalty. After 30-days, you will be subject to a modification fee. I recommend that you call (407) 939-5277 to see if there is any magic that can be worked on the back end to try and make sure that you do not get charged.
If you booked your room and theme park tickets separately, then you can make any changes you need pretty close to the check-in date. In fact, you can modify or cancel your Walt Disney World Resort hotel room up to 5-days before check-in. But keep in mind, this policy only applies if you booked your room outside of a vacation package.
Theme park tickets are non-refundable when purchased outside of a vacation package. The good news is that the value that you paid for your tickets is never lost and you can easily change your ticketed dates through your
My Disney Experience account.
Just be sure that once you change your dates, you cancel your
Disney Park Pass system reservations and dining reservations. This way another family can pick them up.
Whenever the magic is ready, Walt Disney World Resort will be here waiting for you.
See you real soon!
