My reservations for DW Beach Club Villas, The names are mispelled and we did not include a service dog. My son is a disabled veteran and his wife uses a service dog. Will this be a problem?

    Hi Cynthia!

Welcome to planDisney! Disney’s Beach Club Villas are a wonderful choice for your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. With a great location on Crescent Lake, you’ll be just a short distance from Epcot, and you can walk, boat, or take the Disney Skyliner to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. When it’s time to take a break, the resort’s feature pool, Stormalong Bay promises a splashtastic good time for Guests of all ages.

In terms of the names being spelled wrong, you might be able to work through it without too many bumps. Ideally, I think it would be best to correct the names, especially if the misspelling is a big one, just to prevent any complications down the road. You’ll want to match the names on the reservation to Guests in My Disney Experience, and depending on how different the name is, you may run into a snag. If this is a Disney Vacation Club booking, reservations, including names, can be quickly and easily modified on the Disney Vacation Club Member Website by the Member who made the reservation. If you booked as a cash Guest through the Walt Disney World Travel Company, you may also be able to modify the reservation through your My Disney Experience Account. If you cannot modify online, you would need to call.

Service dogs are always welcome at all Disney Collection Hotels and theme parks of the Walt Disney World Resort! Please note that Disney considers service dogs ones that perform a task, or assist an individual with a disability. This would be different than an emotional support animal. Emotional support animals can only be accommodated in specific dog-friendly resorts, and cannot be brought into theme parks. There is also Best Friends Pet Care available should an emotional support dog need accommodations or care.

You are not required to list your service dog on your reservation, but if you like, you can have it added to the notes so that the hotel staff is aware in advance. This information can be added to your reservation, as well as any special room requests over the phone. Again, if this is a Disney Vacation Club Booking, Member Services would be able to do this for you, and if this is a cash booking through Disney, you would call Disney directly.

I would take a few minutes to review the official information on service animals at Walt Disney World. It might be especially helpful to know in advance where the relief areas are for your dog in the parks, and which attractions your dog will need to skip. Do know that if service dogs are not permitted to ride a specific attraction, there is typically an accommodation available so that the dog can be kept safe in a crate, while the Guest experiences the attraction. You can then reunite with the dog after the attraction.

It sounds like you have a fantastic trip planned, Cynthia! Please let us know if you have any additional questions before your visit. We are here to help!

    Have a Magical Day!
