We have reservations for dinner and the Candlelight Procession at Epcot. I'm wondering now though if it isn't such a great idea with children aged 4 and 18 months. Any thoughts?

Hi, Colleen!  I am going to be completely honest with you here and tell you I don't know what to tell you!  You really would know better than I how your kids might be during this type of performance, so I'll tell you my experience with my girls, and fill you in on how it works, and let you make your own decision as it works for your family.

The Candlelight Dinner Package has you dining at one of the participating EPCOT dining locations for dinner, then taking your ticket to the theater for the show.  The show itself is basically the retelling of the Christmas story.  A celebrity narrator takes you through the story of the nativity, as it is written in the Bible.  Interspersed through the narration is a choir performing Christmas songs and hymns.

My oldest daughter had a difficult time sitting through this until she was about six.  The first year she was old enough to understand what it was, she wanted to know why we were taking her to Church on Tuesday.  My middle daughter has a flair for the dramatic, and even as a toddler, she was mesmerized by the music and the lights.  At eight, she still sits better for this than my now 18 year old oldest.  My four year old is of the ilk that if she's got a snack and a drink, she'll sit through anything until she falls asleep or runs out of snacks.  Fortunately, in all four years that she has gone, she has fallen asleep first.

It can be long for young children, and it can be a bit boring for them too.  But if it is something that appeals to the personality of your kids, then it is a show not to be missed.
