Hi there, Holly,
Thanks for bringing your question to us here at planDisney! When it comes to making magical wishes come true at
Walt Disney World Resort, we love guiding other Guests so, like Peter Pan says, “Second star to the right, and straight on ‘til morning!”
You are going to love
Disney’s Contemporary Resort! It’s one of my family’s favorite Disney Resorts Collect hotels. I love how easy it is to hop on the Resort Monorail or to walk to Magic Kingdom Park. And I suggest you make reservations at
Steakhouse 71 during your stay. If you are looking for a slow-paced start to your day, the Floridian Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast dish!
Holly, I think that you must have a Garden Wing room reserved. This is the wing of rooms that are adjacent to the Main Tower and have either a Resort or Water View. These rooms do not have balconies and only the rooms on the first floor have outdoor patios. Currently, the only room request you can make via
Online Check-in Service for those particular rooms is to request a room close to the lobby, which means you will have a quicker walk to the Main Tower’s lobby area.
If you would like to make other requests, I suggest that you
contact a Cast Member in Disney Resort Hotel Reservations at least ten days prior to your arrival. The Cast Member will make a note in your reservation about your request but know that these requests are not guaranteed. You can also go directly to the Front Desk upon your arrival and speak with a Cast Member. Sometimes they are able to sprinkle a little pixie dust!
Holly, the way to guarantee an upgrade of your room view or room category is to upgrade your current reservation. You can do that online by navigating to
My Plans under the
My Disney Experience and then selecting
Change Reservation. You can also
call a Cast Member to check available options. It is worth a try; you never know what buried treasure might turn up!
I hope this information is helpful to you, Holly. Please let us know if you have other questions. In the meantime, remember Peter Pan’s advice, “Think of the happiest things, it’s the same as having wings!”
Wishing you many magical memories,
Shannon
