I have reservations booked at AOA in Jan 2014.l I know that AOA Little Mermaid rooms have never been offered in the dining plan promotions. Should I switch hotels now in order to secure a room just in case free dining is offered during my stay?

Hi, Erica!  Okay, there's always a little bit of confusion when it comes to the dining plan and existing hotel reservations, so I'm going to see if this explanation makes sense.  Please be sure to let me know if things are as clear as mud when I'm done!

Free dining cannot be added to an existing reservation.  A whole new reservation has to be made.  So, when people have a room booked at the resort of their choice and say they "add" the free dining promotion, what actually happens is that a reservation agent books a new room with the dining promotion and cancels the existing reservation.

So, booking a room now at the hotel of your choice in the event of a dining plan promotion still doesn't guarantee a room with the free dining promotion.  You will have to call back when the promotion is offered to see if you can get a room.

The number of rooms offered at each resort with this type of promotion are limited, so you'll want to call as soon as you can to book free dining.  Keep in mind that these types of special promotions also usually require a ticket purchase and a minimum night's stay.

Have an awesome time on your upcoming vacation!
